Day 20 — Guard Your Ṣalāh

Ṣalāh is the believer's direct connection with Allah. When you perform ṣalāh, you speak to Allah (swt); when you recite the Qur'an, Allah (swt) speaks to you.

“Indeed, prayer restrains from immorality and wrongdoing.”
— Qur'an 29:45
Devotion

A Threefold Reflection

Move from understanding, to imagination, to supplication.

Reflection

A strong spiritual life begins with disciplined prayer.

Metaphor

An invitation from a world ruler is treasured and considered a great honour. However, what honour can be greater than a five-times-daily invitation from the Creator, Commander, and Ruler of all rulers?

Prayer

“O Allah, make me constant, focused, and devoted in my ṣalāh.”
Muḥāsabah

Self-Examination

Sit quietly with these two questions before the day takes you.

Ask yourself honestly

  1. 1

Do I feel uncomfortable continuing whatever I am doing when it is time for ṣalāh?

  2. 2

Does the adhān trigger the same feeling of excitement in me as a phone call from a loved one?
