Day 29 — Appreciate Simple Blessings

Health, peace and faith are priceless gifts. The most abundant blessings are often the least appreciated.

Daily Morning Devotion with Imam Onike — Day 29: Appreciate Simple Blessings
“Whoever is not grateful for small things will not be grateful for large things. Whoever does not thank people has not thanked Allah Almighty.”
— Hadith
Devotion

A Threefold Reflection

From insight, to imagery, to supplication.

Reflection

Many blessings go unnoticed until they disappear. The blessings we rarely notice are often the ones we can least afford to lose — sight, breath, a safe morning, a quiet meal.

“And if you should count the favours of Allah, you could not enumerate them.”Qur'an 16:18

Metaphor — The Air We Breathe

No one pays attention to the air around them until breathing becomes difficult. Many of Allah's greatest favours are like air — constant, free, essential and easily forgotten.

Lesson: The most abundant blessings are often the least appreciated.

Prayer

“O Allah, make me grateful in all situations, mindful of Your countless blessings, and among those who thank You in both ease and hardship.” Aamiin.

Self-Examination

Pause and audit the heart — gratitude begins where awareness begins.

Ask yourself honestly

  1. 1

When was the last time I sincerely thanked Allah for ordinary blessings such as waking up safely, having food to eat, urinating without a urinary catheter, breathing without an inhaler, or being able to perform ṣalāh?

  2. 2

Which of Allah's quiet favours am I taking for granted today?

Benefits
